CONSTRUCTION CHOICES You can build your log home yourself to save on the total cost and gain the satisfaction of building your own log home, or you may prefer to assign this responsibility to a builder / dealer or a general contractor in your area. Building instructions and detailed plans come with each Air-Lock Log Homes, LLC log home package. OPTIONAL MATERIALS INTERIOR WALLS - AIR-LOCK® logs. Standard log home plans without loft and balcony may include interior walls where indicated with heavy lines on floor plan. GABLES - AIR-LOCK® logs. Pitch depends on width and log house design. RAFTERS - Solid poles, flat one side and coped to fit log wall. RIDGE AND PURLINS - Solid lathe-turned logs. TIES - Solid lathe-turned logs. Cut to fit log walls. Used on spans 20´ and under. LOG TRUSSES - When required. Includes top and bottom chords, compression and tension members and steel rods. PORCH MATERIAL - Log lintel, post and rafters. LOFT & BALCONY MATERIAL - Log floor supporting beams. Posts, railings, log stairs.
