LOG HOME FEATURES

INDIVIDUALLY MANUFACTURED AIR-LOCK® loghomes are individually manufactured to fill individual needs and to satisfy individual tastes. These custom houses are built with a variety of foundations, floors and roofs, depending on terrain, climate, location, tradition, or personal preference. All AIR-LOCK® logs are pre-cut to make on-site erection easy and efficient. CUSTOM FEATURES The unique features of AIR-LOCK® logs, first patented in the late 1920's, have withstood the test of time. The logs, which are made from lodgepole pine, have been lathe-turned and bored. The green logs are air or kiln dried until the moisture content has fallen below 16 percent. The hollow core facilitates the actual drying process, thus minimizing checking and cracking. This reduces shipping weight, makes handling easier and provides a natural conduit for wiring. The dry logs are finish-turned to a uniform diameter of 6, 7, 8 or 9 inches. They are then tongue and grooved, coped, pre-cut to specified lengths, end-grooved and milled to the precise requirements of the specific plan. Because all millwork is performed on dry material, the pre-cut logs maintain their dimensions. With a quality finish and proper care, AIR-LOCK® your log home can last lifetimes of exposure and use. Log home packages including log home siding and log home playhouses. INSULATING FACTORS Much of the comfort of a log house comes from the natural insulating quality of the logs themselves. The mass of wood stores the suns heat during the day and then gradually releases this heat at night. This kind of passive solar system is difficult to duplicate with artificial insulating materials. MATERIALS PROVIDED EXTERIOR WALLS - AIR-LOCK® logs are pre-cut for all window and door openings. WINDOW & DOOR FRAMES - Pre-Cut 2 X material is included. The windows and doors are not included. CAULK AND FOAM GASKET - Insulation for tongue & groove, seals joints, prevents airflow and moisture. FASTENERS - Steel rods, nuts, couplers and washers.
